We hope you’ll be hearing a lot more about the brilliant documentary Fixing Dad over the forthcoming months.
We are often asked by national newspapers to conduct interviews on their behalf and one asked us to approach the Whitingtons in the hope they’d agree to talk about their amazing story.
Less than 10 months ago, Geoff Whitington tipped the scales at 19-stone and was facing up to the probability of having his foot amputated.
Diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, the security guard from Ashford, Kent, believed he had only a few years left to live.
But after his sons Ian, 35 and Anthony, 37, took matters into their own hands, he has shed the weight and taken part in a number of extraordinary challenges – including tomb-stoning and a 100-mile cycle ride – on his way to becoming fitter than he’s ever been.
And now, after filming every step of the incredible journey, the brothers are just months away from taking the inspirational feature film called Fixing Dad to the Sundance Film Festival, which is set to make the security guard a star – and the unlikely poster boy for diabetes!
It was brilliant to meet such an inspiring family and have the chance to talk to them about their crazy year. We’ll let you know the outcome of our interview and keep you updated on the family’s progress.
